A spatial design studio at the intersection of cultural identity, creative intelligence, and design technology.
TIENO was founded by Atieno Onyango, born and raised in the Western part of Kenya. With Italian education and experience in Florence Italy, London, and Nairobi, Atieno saw the need to offer quality interior design services efficiently to clients worldwide , with Africa remaining a core market. After years working in the field, Atieno identified a gap that many clients quietly experience: the search for a design partner who can work with precision and care, without pulling clients into an exhausting cycle of meetings, revisions, and decisions - while still making the process feel personal and the result feel entirely their own.
Working with TIENO is designed to feel like the stillness of the night. Clients rest while the work happens. When they wake up, it's a new dawn ; a space that is precisely theirs, without the weight of having carried it there themselves. That stillness is not absence. It is intention.

The name
TIENO is derived from the Luo naming tradition, a name given to those born at night. We believe the most interesting spaces reveal themselves after dark. This is what we design for.

Who we are
TIENO is a spatial design studio operating at the intersection of cultural identity, creative intelligence, and design technology. We design considered interiors and run a sophisticated, intelligent studio behind them. Faster where speed matters. Slower where it doesn't. Always personally guided. We design homes, offices, hotels, restaurants, and retail spaces that feel specific to the person, the place, and the culture. We also work alongside architects and developers as an interior delivery partner , bringing the same precision and care to referred projects as we bring to our own.

TIENO works with architectural practices worldwide as a trusted interior delivery partner. Where architects lead the structure, we lead the space within it , material, atmosphere, detail, and procurement. It is a collaboration built on shared standards and a mutual commitment to considered work.
